Miss Pacific Islands Leoshina Kariha carried out her first engagement as South Pacific Tourism Organisation’s (SPTO) Pacific tourism ambassador at the Los Angeles Travel Show in the United States at the weekend.
The LA Travel & Adventure show is one of USA’s most-important travel events for marketers to reach consumers and travel agents.
This year, the Pacific Islands was represented at the show by tourism marketers from American Samoa, Cook Islands, Fiji, French Polynesia, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga and Fiji Airways.
“Los Angeles has been quite a quick but interesting trip,” Kariha said. “Thank you South Pacific Tourism office for giving me this honour and privilege.
“As Miss Tourism, it gave me an opportunity to meet tourism office staff from the different countries in the South Pacific. I also got to share a piece of my beautiful PNG by performing a dance from Madang
and Buka, on the Global Beatz Stage.”
As Miss Pacific Islands, Kariha also took on the role of ambassador advocating for sustainable tourism at regional and international tourism fora.
SPTO chief executive Christopher Cocker welcomed Kariha into her new role.
