TUITION, board and lodging fees for Karimui-Nomane students in tertiary institutions and colleges are expected to be paid soon, says local MP Francis Alua.
Alua said K12 million had been set aside and that education was a shared responsibility and the district will try its best to subsidise all fees levied by the tertiary institutions.
“However, if there is small shortfall then parents must make it their business to come on board and help out,” Alua said.
He said Karimui-Nomane was a very remote area that had fallen behind a lot socially in development including education.
“My aim is to give priority to education during my five-year term.
“Education is one sure way of driving development for this remote least developed district of Chimbu,” he added.
He said the subsidised tertiary institutions school fee programme was only for Karimui-Nomane students attending and would be attending tertiary institutions in the country.
“Those have applied for the school fees assistance programme and whose applications have been vetted by the programme cordinators and approved,”he added.
He said school fees cheques should be paid into the respective institutions’ bank accounts by this Friday and they would be advised accordingly.
For secondary and the lower, Alua was focusing on property facilities maintenance as the infrastructures had fallen apart due to a lack of no attention in the past.
