THE National Information and Communication Technology Authority (Nicta) will hold a month-long campaign to promote safer internet, says the head of Nicta.
Nicta chief executive officer Kila Gulo-Vui said that the campaign would run throughout February and would be aimed at promoting the positive use of the internet and safety online.
Speaking at the launching of the Safer Internet Day and extended campaign last Tuesday, Gulo-Vui said they had already started conducting different awareness programmes in conjunction with a number of partners that were part of their Safer Internet Committee.
He noted that they had already started carrying these programmes out in select schools in Central, Morobe and the National Capital District.
“The Government recognises that online safety is important because it affects the wellbeing and security of its citizens, businesses and infrastructure,” Gulo-Vui said.
“The increasing use of technology and the internet have made online safety a critical issue.
“We will collaborate with our partners and key stakeholders over February to promote safer internet.”
