Kauko stays committed to training

NATIONAL lightweight champion Raka Kauko Jr says he remains committed to training despite the indefinite postponement of his title fight with Philippine champion Roldan Aldea in Port Moresby.
He said the deferral of the World Boxing Council-Asia Boxing Council title fight, which was initially scheduled for April 25, had disrupted most of his plans for the year.
“I had plans leading up to the fight but after what had happened (Covid-19), most of them just fell apart,” Kauko said.
“I also had plans for what I will be doing with my boxing career after the fight but now I’m just training and working.
“I just want to keep myself fit and I know there’s going to be a fight later.
“But for now, I don’t have much expectation of what happens next.”
He said the Covid-19 situation was a reminder to people about staying healthy and practising basic hygiene.
“To my supporters in the National Capital District and my people in West New Britain, most of you are aware of what is happening and I will try my best to keep you informed,” he said.
