Kaven buries Angras at NSI

KAGUA Erave’s Jorden Kaven single-handedly handed the Simbu Angara their first loss of the Kumul Petroleum National Soccer League Highlands Conference at the National Sports Institute in Goroka on Saturday.
The Angras had no answer for Kaven who blasted home four goals in his side’s 6-2 win.
The Angras’ hopes of unleashing their attacking mid-fielders in Jacob Beriga and Issac Lalo were thwarted by a clinical Kagua side headed by Kaven who banked the first goal in the second minute.
The Chimbu defence was made to look ordinary despite courageous efforts from Dennis Gira, Paul Malong and Ian Risom but they simply could not keep Kaven from going through, around and over then in a superb four-goal effort in their first half.
The game was over by halftime with the Southern Highlanders holding a commanding 4-0 lead.
To their credit the Chimbu fought back in the second stanza scoring a brace of goals but Kagua Erave finished off with class when striker Papalau Aweleto and captain Neil Hens found the back of the Angras net to ensure victory.
The result saw KE maintain their lead of the conference with four wins from as many games.
The Angras are yet to get a win after three draws and Saturday’s loss.
