Letters

RESPONSIBLE Papua New Guineas should advise both the government and opposition leaders to refrain from publicly displaying any Apec safety and security issues in the media at this stage as we prepare to host world leaders next month.
We kindly encourage both the prime minister and the opposition leader not to reveal publicly our security arrangements, and not to attack each other but work together to ensure our guests are well looked until their departure and for several weeks after their departure.
Public display of opinion and debate on this issue hould be avoided at all times.
Security issues in any country is best left to the security forces and their counterparts national and international, and only the head of Government can intervene anytime.
All Papua New Guineans have an obligation to encourage our leaders with sound advice as we understand their busy schedule and need our support when necessary on matters important for our beautiful country and our people.
I would like to encourage both our hard-working leaders to please refrain from making public the timeline and security capacity. We are all behind you.
Let us receive our guests with open arms in the true Melanesian way.
