Keleruina set to make PMSA debut

CENTRAL team Keleruina FC will debut in the Port Moresby Soccer Association (PMSA) premier league when they take on PS Rutz at Bisini on Sunday.
Keleruina, who were promoted after winning the first division last year, are made up of village talent but are known for their fast attacking football and will go all out as they take on a young PS Rutz side.
Competition manager Paul Karambi, pictured, said they were excited to see the Keleruina.
“We know these central teams play with passion, so Bisini is expected to see some fireworks as supporters from Central are expected to come,” he said.
He said PS Rutz’ supporters were expecting to see their young talent play fast football to match the village team.
Kelereuina coach Ivish Olema said the boys were excited and ready to play.
“Some stay in the city but most are based in the village and have been playing football there,” Olema said. “They’re playing in a village competition, and are fit and ready. We know the quality of football in the PMSA premier league and this is the game for us at that level.
“The boys are happy they’re in the league, but will have to show they can play at the highest level.
“The whole village is excited and we expect to see truck loads coming into the city for this first game.”
In other games on Sunday, University Inter FC will take on Cosmos FC, who were thrashed 8-2 last time out, while in-form FC Genesis take on reigning premiers Mungkas FC on Saturday afternoon.
Mungkas FC have been hard at training for a while now and with talented Basil Jofari leading the pack, they appear fit and ready.
However, FC Genesis are coming off a big win over Cosmos and with young Ricky Togubai on fire and Rodney Mobiha running loose in front, Mungkas have to be wary of the Andrew Lepani-led side.
Meanwhile, Karambi said it was good to see many teams fielding a lot of new young players to set the foundation for the future.
He said the “no pay, no play” policy would continue.
“We have increased to 22 competition games this weekend and I thank all clubs who have paid the agreed kick-off registration fees and urge others to comply,” Karambi said.
