THE Kerema basketball competition is picking up momentum as United edged PNG Power Sparkies 29- 28 in the women’s division on Sunday.
It was a closely contested affair with both teams going tit for tat until the crucial stages when United got the better of the exchanges to clinch the match by a point.
Sparkies defence faded in the final quarter and if they had been a little better organised on defence the game could have been theirs.
Since the competition was revived talented players from the town and surrounding communities have emerged with Kerema Coronation Secondary School students as well as urban and rural youths featuring prominently across the competition’s senior and junior ranks.
