Key project delivery a success, says governor

DESPITE the many socio-political issues afflicting the livelihood of Government workers and the security of state properties, Southern Highlands has succeeded in delivering its development projects.
Governor William Powi, while presenting his 2018 and 2019 outstanding services improvement programme (PSIP) financial reports to the Department of Implementation and Rural Development (DIRD) last week, said in a statement that due to the ineffective law and order and judiciary systems, the criminal activities was striving.
Powi said the recent break-in and ransacking of the administration building – Agiru centre – targeting the finance office, destroyed computers, servers, documents, PNG accounting system machine and office stationeries.
“This has affected the effectiveness of basic service delivery in many parts of the province coupled with escalating law and order,” he said
“Despite all these challenges we have successfully delivered our key programme such as the roll-out of the 2012-2020 development plan, small and medium enterprise projects, K100,000 funding allocation to local level governments and infrastructure and road projects.”
