THE New Guinea Kickboxing Federation (PNGKF) has differed the national kickboxing championships to a later date due to the Covid-19 resurgence in the country.
PNGKF president Stanley Nandex told The National yesterday that the event was scheduled to be held in Kimbe at the end of the month.
However, he said they would wait until the Covid-19 situation improved.
Nandex said that they would also wait for clearance from the Government.
“PNGKF has once again deferred its national kickboxing championships which were to be held in Kimbe, West New Britain, by the end of this month,” he said.
“The current pandemic is very dangerous, we can’t risk any of our members.
“I have informed all the provincial associations and affiliated members to cancel all their training programmes as well.”
Nandex said one of the setbacks for the national federation this year was that the Covid-19 pandemic had affected PNG’s chances of participating in the world championships in Cairo, Egypt, in October.
