THE Labu-Talie village couple, kidnapped two weeks ago, have been killed, according to Morobe police commander Supt Peter Guinness.
Police confirmed that their bodies had been buried in shallow graves.
The police rural patrol unit (RPU) search party from the provincial police command was sent to search the Mt Shungol jungle between Salamaua and Buang last week.
The police search party and relatives of the couple discovered their grave under bamboo bushes near Bomatu village, Supt Guinness said yesterday.
The police investigation team (CID) and a doctor will travel to the area today to exhume the bodies for further examination.
Supt Guinness said the bodies of the couple will be exhumed and delivered to the Angau Memorial Hospital in Lae for post-mortem and police reports.
They will then return the couple’s bodies home for burial, he said.
No one has been arrested  yet in connection with the kidnapping and murder of the couple.
Today is the deadline given by Assistant Commissioner of Police Giossi Labi for the safe return of the couple.
The couple left behind four young children.
Their family home and all personal belongings were burnt down along with 32 others the morning after they were kidnapped.
