THE Kimbe Cricket Association has suspended it competition indefinitely following the nationwide lockdown over the coronavirus.
Association secretary Andrew Henry said the suspension was consistent with the Papua New Guinea Sports Foundation’s (PNGSF) decision to shut down its facilities for the next four weeks.
Henry said the pandemic was a serious issue and that they could not risk the health and safety of their players, officials and supporters.
He said resumption would depend on the situation.
“The current situation is beyond our control and we have to follow PNGSF’s lead because it concerns everyone’s safety,” Henry said. “I am not sure when we will resume but hopefully when the situation improves, we will let the teams know.”
Meanwhile, Henry said the competition was gaining momentum with more players joining the T20 format.
