THE Kimbe Cutters’ 34-man train-on squad will play their first trial match at the Peter Humphrey Oval in the West New Britain capital tomorrow (12pm kick-off).
Franchise manager Freddie Kumai told The National yesterday that the trial would see the Cutters’ Team Green face Team Blue.
“This is our first trial and we expect our men to play to their best and make an impression,” he said.
“We will use the trial to assess their performances before we trim the squad to 30 men for the Rabaul Gurias trials.
“There will be two trials played against the Gurias.
“The first one will be at the Kalabond Oval in Kokopo on March 6.
“The second trial will be the return match at the Peter Humphrey Oval.”
Kumai said the Cutters retained the bulk of their players from last season.
“But a few players have been dropped because of their off-field behaviour,” he said.
“We want to get the message across to those players that wearing the Cutters jersey is not to be taken lightly. They must take pride in the jersey and what the team represent.”
Kumai said the franchise wanted players to understand the level of competition they were playing in and maintain high standards on and off the field.
