Kindergarten launches syllabus for early childhood education

ONE of Ginigoada Business Development Foundation’s early learning centres in Mirigini has launched its curriculum on early childhood development in Port Moresby yesterday.
It is the foundation’s pilot project that will be shared with its other centres in the National Capital District, Central and Morobe.
The project is supported by the Ginigoada Foundation and United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (Unicef).
According to the foundation’s project coordinator, Hoge Baeau, the project will take basic development training to children aged between three and five years.
“It is very important for us to educate our children from the early stage to close the gap because we parents think it’s best to enrol our children at the age of seven or eight, that’s where a lot of things went missing,” Hodge told The National.
“The standard-based curriculum set by the Education Department should adopt the early childhood development curriculum if the government is serious with our human resource and education systems.”
The project started in 2010.
“Back then we visited communities to run the mobile training to children and youths,” said the foundation’s project manager Robert Eva.
“The training runs for four weeks and certificates are presented after completion. Many communities took initiative to carry out the training in their areas.
“In 2018, the mobile training centre concluded and the foundation introduced the early childhood development programme to all the centres.”
Foundation manager Pastor Mike Field said education was the key to success “so I ask you all to put away politics and invest into your children”.
“I feel for adultery, violence and harassing of our women and children but it will take decades, even 100 years, to change so I decided to look into our early childhood development,” Field said.
“If you bless your kids today, tomorrow they will bless you by taking care of you.”
