Kiunga residents get free eye screening from doctors

MORE than 200 residents of Kiunga town in North Fly, Western received free eye screening care as part of a partnership between Pacific International Hospital (PIH), LOTIC Bige Ltd and Liberty Insurance on June 10 and 11.
The free eye screening camp was held at the LBL Western Medicare Clinic, conducted by PIH eye surgeon Dr Vivekaraj Jairaj and optometrist Mainak Mondal.
Of the 226 people screened, over the two days, 58 required reading glasses, 35 required prescriptions for glasses, and the rest were suffering from cataracts and needed surgery.
PIH chief executive Col Sandeep Shaligram was pleased with the turnout and advised that both the glasses and the surgery would be conducted for free.
LOTIC Bige Limited chairman Ketu Nuri thanked the PIH team for the free eye clinic camp of directors, who were also community leaders.
He thanked Liberty Insurance for collaborating with LBL to make this PIH eye clinic a success.
