Koboni look to improve against West Eagles

KOBONI will have a lot of work to do ahead of their Port Moresby Esiloan premiership round three AFL clash against West Eagles at the Colts Oval on Saturday.
The Demons were completely shut out by the reigning premiers Lamana Dockers in their grand final rematch last Saturday to the tune of 10.6 (66) to 1.6 (12) scoreline.
Coach Overa Gibson warned his players to improve from last week’s performance if they are to get something out of the Eagles game.
“It’s done and gone. Dwelling on last week’s poor performance will not help us, so we be prepared for the Eagles,” Gibson said.
Gibson will be relying on Paul Philip, Brendan Beno, Alphonse Major, Michael Macca and Douglas Lai Jr to pave the way for their younger players.
The Eagles are coming of a stunning 45-point win over the Gordon Kokofas, with coach John Timothy maintaining the same team.
He will be banking on Jeffery Namete, Greg Ekari, Dunstan Kase, Jeremy Kase, Alois Mondo, Billy Vele Jr, Mathew Pulah Jr and former Bomana Cats star Kila Rawali to lead the way.
The Saturday’s earlier match will see University Tigers taking on Gereka Bombers while Gerehu Magpies are pitted for a tough challenge against Gordon Kokofas on Sunday’s midday clash.
Sunday’s main match will be interesting, with the reigning premiers Lamana Dockers taking on Bomana Cats.
Dockers coach Stanis Isu warned his players against being complacent, with the ever elusive Cats always looking to cause headaches for their opposition.
“The Cats are a very good team with fast, flowing football as their trademark so we will not be taking this game lightly,” Isu said.
