THE new Koiari-Vanapa Brown Rugby League competition in Central’s Kairuku-Hiri has been boosted with K20,000 for this weekend’s pre-season nines tournament, thanks to league patron and local MP Peter Namea Isoaimo.
“Kairuku-Hiri MP Peter Isoaimo committed K20,000 to the Koairi-Vanapa Brown Rugby League to start nines tournament at the beginning of next month,” president Walo Auda said.
He said they would run a coaching and refereeing clinic today.
“The clubs are working towards completing their player registration and medical checks to be eligible and physically fit for the tournament,” Auda said.
“We will ensure that everything under the Papua New Guinea Rugby Football League (PNGRFL) constitution is followed. Teams have been doing training over the last three weeks and are looking forward to the tournament.”
Auda thanked Isoaimo for the initiative and the funding, and PNGRFL for allowing Koiari-Vanapa to have its own competition.
