Kokoda Cup up for grabs

THE second annual Air Niugini Kokoda Cup between the Townsville Blackhawks and SP PNG Hunters is on again Sunday at the Oil Search National Football Stadium in Port Moresby.
The match continues to honour the Battle of Kokoda as well as mark the first anniversary of the airline’s direct flight between Port Moresby and Townsville, Australia.
Air Niugini general manager commercial Dominic Kaumu said last year’s inaugural match was memorable with the Hunters winning the first Kokoda Cup.
“Supporters of the Hunters and the Blackhawks and rugby league fans in general are encouraged to come along and enjoy a wonderful afternoon of rugby league.”
PNG Rugby Football League CEO Reatau Rau acknowledged Air Niugini’s ongoing support to the Hunters and was appreciative of this fixture between the two sides that dwell on either side of the direct Townsville service.
