Kokofas beat Seagulls, claim Central League title

GYG Estate Kokofas beat Koki Amazon Bay Seagulls 16-0 to win the Central Province Premier League’s inaugural women’s title at Murray Barracks Oval last Sunday.
The Kokofas bagged K2500 for their efforts and the Seagulls got K1000 in prize money.
The Kokofas, led by captain Iga Kere and Angela Parao, outplayed the Carol Francis-led side.
Kere scored a double, and Parao and Rose Malabag bagged a try each in the win.
Kokofas led 8-0 at halftime.
Kokofas coach Willie Malabag said their hardwork over the last quarter of the season had paid off.
“We had a slow start to the season especially with our committment to trasining but we made it to the knockouts and the final and we did it,” Malabag said.
“Winning the final was incredible.
“All my players trained hard and prepared well, so they deserved it.”
CPPL’s manager Murray Peto said they would strive to improve the women’s competition next season.
“This is the inaugural women’s competition and we’re proud that it was successful and we look forward to seeing it grow over the coming years,” Peto said.
