WAGHI Tumbe forward Supa Kokote is confident that his team with mixture of young and experienced players can bring the Digicel Cup trophy home to Jiwaka.
The Digicel Cup veteran said after Tumbe’s 31-16 win over Mendi Muruks in the preliminary final last Sunday his side had what it took to bring the high flying Lae Tigers down in the grand final at the Oil Search National Football Stadium on Sunday.
“We really want to win our first ever premiership and take the trophy up to Jiwaka,” said the former Enga Miok.
“We have a good mix of more young talent with a number of experienced players and it’s an exciting team.
“I think we can give the Tigers a strong challenge and even win the title.
“I believe in this time and we really look forward to the big game on Sunday.”
For Kokote, who hails from Akameku village in Goroka, Eastern Highlands, this will be his third Digicel Cup grand final appearance.
Kokote played his first grand final as a 26-year-old with his home team Goroka Lahanis in 2013 grand final against a star studded Port Moresby Vipers were they lost 14-36.
He then had another shot in his second grand final when he captained the Enga Mioks side in the 2018 cup decider against Goroka Lahanis but came up short again.
