LANDOWNERS at the liquefied natural gas project site in Komo, Hela, are concerned that money allocated for them by the government has never reached them.
They said the only reason they had been missing out was because the so-called “paper landowners” had been in Port Moresby claiming to represent them and had ran away with the money.
Petroleum Development Licence (PDL) 7 chairman James Minape said that practice must stop and what belonged to them should be paid directly to them.
“This practice had been going on for many years since the LNG project was discovered.
“What was paid by the state has gone into the wrong hands,” he said.
“My people have suffered at not receiving grants like seed capital and others promised by the government.”
