Kone Tigers win minor honours

KONE Tigers bagged the minor premiership and Gulf West caused the upset of the round in the Port Moresby Rugby League A-Grade competition at the Oil Search National Football Stadium on Saturday.
Tigers beat Souths 14-6 and West shocked Hohola Flies 12-10.
But the Tigers’ minor premiership is pending tomorrow’s meeting for club delegates at 6.30pm at the stadium.
The meeting will confirm the ladders for the Under-20s, men and women divisions. Trailing 6-10 with three minutes remaining, West were fortunate to see centre Martin Sare cross over for a try which halfback Andy Tand converted for the win.
Sare was later named the man of the match ahead of Tand.
Flies, who underestimated their opposition, begin this weekend’s playoffs on the wrong foot while West bow out on a positive note, having not made the finals.
In another results, the Paga Panthers drew 12-12 with Kone Storm.
