YOUNG Papua New Guinea sprinter Monica Korowi made a great start to her collegiate athletics career in the United States last weekend.
Competing for her William Carey University at Kansas State University in Manhattan, Korowi clocked good times of 7.86 seconds for the 60m and 42.27s for the 300m.
“Though Korowi started school in February, she wasn’t ready to compete at that time,” Athletics PNG president Tony Green said.
“So after consulting us and her coaches, Korowi decided to skip the 2021 campaign and prepare for the 2022 season..”
The indoor track season runs from December to March and the outdoor from March to late May.
