Kot help Cutters beat Tumbe

FORMER Gulf Isou back-rower Benji Kot scored a double to help the Kimbe Cutters beat Waghi Tumbe 14-4 in round two of the Digicel Cup in Port Moresby on Saturday.
Cutters fullback and captain Jah Hogen also played a blinder, with the former Goroka Lahanis flyer making five line breaks at Sir John Guise Stadium. Cutters wasted no time as they opened the scoring when Kot scored his first try off a cut-out pass by SP Hunters squad member Justin Yoka three minutes in to lead 4-0.
Kot completed his double in 17th minute off a brilliant move by hooker Francis Nasar who found Hogan on the blind side to send the centre over for a try.
Yoka made sure of the conversion to give the Cutters a 10-0 lead.
Tumbe’s only try came five minutes from halftime when SP Hunter Joe Frank crossed over for an unconverted try off the back of an offload by prop Baundo Aba to trail 4-10. The second half saw the Cutters maintaining their intensity with forwards Oxx Jacob, Steven Yei, Michael Teke Jr and Lynold Molpoyo dominating Tumbe.
Tumbe’s Gene Markham and Aba were also physical but the Cutters continued to dominate field position.

  • I enjoyed watching this game on TVWAN. Referee and Lines men you control the match for entertainment game and player safety, not players. And players, Rugby league is one of the world class team sports so continue to strengthen and improve your game skills and game management. Games are won by 13 players not by one individual, so play as a team.
