LAE MP and sacked People’s National Congress Party member Loujaya Kouza has joined the Triumph Heritage Empowerment Party, lifting its membership to five.

Kouza said that she joined THE Party because it believed   in fighting corruption and promoting gender equality.

“I thank my Morobe Governor Kelly Naru, Bulolo MP and Pangu Pati leader Sam Basil for supporting me to join THE Party,” Kouza said.

“We will work together to address development issues affecting Lae and the country as a whole.”

Polye, who is also the Opposition Leader, said that Kouza was a very brilliant woman leader and her inclusion was a boost to THE Party’s promotion of gender equality.

“THE Party had Sohe MP and Community Development Minister Delilah Gore and Eastern Highland Governor Julie Soso. But they left and it is good for Kouza to join us,” Polye said.

Meanwhile Naru said he was still “an independent MP” and had not joined the Opposition.

Naru clarified this last Friday when asked by The National whether he had moved to the Opposition following speculation that he would join them as a protest against the unceremonious sacking of Kouza from PNC.

PNC deputy party leader and Tewai-Siassi MP Mao Zeming sacked Kouza on Nov 4, describing her as “lacking decency, respect and common sense” over her criticism of the Government.
