Kramer’s appeal dismissed

THE Supreme Court has dismissed an application for leave to appeal by Police Minister Bryan Kramer against an interlocutory judgment by National Court Judge Deputy Chief Justice Ambeng Kandakasi made on March 5.
Justice Kandakasi previously issued orders against Kramer in a defamatory proceeding filed by Ialibu-Pangia MP Peter O’Neill.
Former prime minister O’Neill, filed the proceedings after Kramer accused him of misappropriation and threatened to arrest him on social media.
Kandakasi ordered an injunction against Kramer, stopping him from interfering in police operations.
Supreme Court Judge David Cannings on Friday ruled that the application of appeal by Kramer was incompetent that leave to appeal was not required by virtue of section 14(3)(b)(ii) of the Supreme Court because the interlocutory judgment by the National Court was an injunction.
Cannings upheld the objection to competency filed by O’Neill’s lawyer.
