Kuman wrong about cheating in exams

The National, Wednesday November 18th, 2015

MY TWO sons sat for their grade 12 exams this year and, to be honest, they stood the test of being tempted or manipulated by fellow students.

We were hoping to hear from Education Minister Nick Kuman that the grade 12 exams would be cancelled and selections made from the internal marks.

Kuman’s statement that “cheating of exams is not true” is not true.

I can tell the minister that cheating of exam papers is real and it happens every year.

There are officers within the Measurement Services Unit (MSU) of the Education Department who are making lots of money from selling exam papers.

Headmasters, teachers and students are collaborating and it’s happening right here in the Southern Highlands.

The minister cannot deny the cheating and scam that was prevalent during the exam period.

I also do not agree with his statement that “we have done extremely well”. Shame on the school management and its students; the principal will be happy that his school is in the top list but you students will not survive in the colleges and universities.

I beg Minister Kuman to approve the selection of Southern Highlands students on their internal marks.

For students who were not involved in this mass cheating, I pray that our God, the one who sees things done in the secret, will reward you for your honesty.
