Kumuls squad

Letters

THE PNG Rugby Football League selectors should now identify and name the PNG Kumuls squad for the test against the Fiji Bati on June 23.
Like in the past two years, the bulk of the players were selected from the SP Hunters, but this year is a different ball game altogether.
Last year, the PNG Kumuls beat the Fiji Bati by one point, and that team comprised NRL, NSW Super Cup and QLD Intra Super Cup players.
The Hunters players who played in those test matches are not playing now for the SP Hunters.
Others who were dropped from the SP Hunters programme are playing in the Digicel Cup to maintain fitness.
The current SP Hunters players we have now are nowhere near the height and weight of the Fiji Bati across the park.
They are not winning games in the Queensland Intra Super Cup and therefore only a few deserve to be in the squad.
The selectors should not only consider players with form, but also those players who have played and are exposed to international matches and have experience.
Name the Kumul players in the local media and move them into camps at least two weeks in advance, depending on their club commitments, so that we the rugby league fraternity know that the players who have been selected are the best we have.
They should not only represent our country but also win so that we can improve our world ranking.
Over to you Mr Super Coach Michael Marum and PNGRFL selectors.
