THE Kwikila Dragons and Saroa Raiders sealed their spots in the Rigo Rugby League grand final with both teams bagging semifinal wins in Kwikila, Central, on Saturday.
Minor premiers Dragons beat Bese Eels 16-0 and the Raiders shocked Saroa Keina Broncos 14-10.
The highly-fancied Dragons and Raiders were the outright favourites in their semifinals with solid defence and structured style of football from Central Dabaris personnel.
An even contest between the Dragons and Eels saw Dabaris prop Heniga Lapanda barge through opposition defenders in the 70th minute to break a 10-10 deadlock with the Dragons holding on for the win.
Dragons playmaker Saidi Lesley and Louie Otto were in devastating form with the duo setting the pace for veterans Jubilee Otto and Jack Fave who will retire after Saturday’s grand final.
Meanwhile, the Raiders-Broncos semifinal saw the Dabari Chiko Mairi join his brothers Saka and Dagi to outclass a gutsy Broncos side.
In the Under-20s, the Dragons beat Bigai Brothers 10-6 with matches controlled by referees Paul Wani, Patrick Imo and Geno Koivi.
