Lack of support sees junior sevens tournament called off

THIS weekend’s Capital Rugby Union (CRU) junior sevens tournament has been cancelled due to a lack of corporate support, according to the organisers. CRU acting competition manager Pepe Gotaha said the tournament was planned for the Under-17s and U20s who did not take part in the 2020 season with only the premier division taking the field. “The tournament has been cancelled,” he said.
“There will be no CRU-endorsed matches for the weekend and we apologise for any inconveniences caused.
“Due to the economic impacts of Covid-19 and the lack of corporate sponsorships, the CRU executives have opted to cancel the tournament and plan for the upcoming season.”
