WEST Taraka health centre will receive an ambulance from the Lae district despite being located in the Huon district of Morobe.

Lae MP and Minister for Religion, Youth and Community Development Loujaya Toni said this when presenting five vehicles at the Lae urban local government office last Friday.

Two troop carriers will be equipped and used as ambulances at the Malahang and West Taraka health centres while the other vehicles have been allocated to the district administrator, city mayor and the district electoral office.

“Being responsible for funding towards infrastructure and provision of health support towards this health centre (West Taraka) over the years, we are only strengthening the responsibility for the facility as it also caters for the Lae city population despite been located in Huon district,”  Toni said.

“We will be going around to other health centers in the district as well.”

Meanwhile, the Lae district administration entered into an arrangement with Tribal Foundation last month for white goods totaling K100,000 to be delivered to each of the 23 wards in the district.

The arrangement, to run over five years, also covers wards that are on the border with Huon and Nawaeb districts.

Toni said medical supplies for the health centres have been arranged with AusAID.
