THE Morobe provincial scouts jamboree aimed to teach students and youths practical scouting skills, discipline and to exchange cultures and traditions, field commissioner James Masia said yesterday.

He said during the jamboree in Lae this week, scouts would exchange skills and take part in craft activities such as building camp towers, flag poles, chairs, tables and pits for rubbish and toilets.

“Other activities include how to take care of camps, abide by camp rules, reading and understanding signs, how to tie various knots and their names, tracking and nature observations including games,” he said.

Masia said the scouts would learn to respect human nature, the significance of the environment and to serve God and society.

He added that the theme of the jamboree was ‘Developing students and youths spiritually, physically and mentally’.
