ABOUT a thousand residents in Lae participated in the annual Islands Petroleum Colour Run event on Sunday with the funds raised going towards Butibum Primary School.
Islands Petroleum’s lubrication sales engineer Raybon Tamegal said the event would not be successful without the support of sponsors and thanked all the sponsors that contributed their resources to stage the Colour Run.
Companies that supported the event received a certificate of appreciation from the Islands Petroleum.
“To make all of you aware, the fundraising charity event today (Sunday) is to support Butibum Primary School.”
Lae City Authority chief executive officer Neil Ellery thanked Islands Petroleum for putting up a great run.
He said the run was a community event which the community comes out to support.
“Three to four years ago you wouldn’t have seen this sort of event happening in Lae and it’s fantastic.
“People have enjoyed it and corporate sponsors like Islands Petroleum getting involved to making sure that we love our city Lae.”
Ellery acknowledged Islands Petroleum for putting together the colour run for another year saying all the money raised would go into community development.
