CONSTRUCTION work for the new Redscar Police Station started last month, according to assistant commissioner of Police (ACP) Logistics Division Tony Duwang.
Duwang said this comes under the public investment programme’s (PIP) main programme in the Law & Justice Sector which RPNGC was appropriated K35 million in the national budget to deliver its priorities on housing infrastructure in 2019.
Duwang said Boroko Police would be the next after Redscar.
“We have targeted to commence on Boroko then Madang, Karkar, Daulo and Madang Mobile Barracks in September with the rest to follow,” he said. From this total appropriation, K15 million is for Police Mobile Barracks and K20 million is for police housing.
The stations are Banz police station and cell blocks, Madang police station, Daulo police station, Karkar police station, Markham police station, provincial police commander (PPC) Jiwaka residence, ACP New Guinea Islands and PPC East New Britain residences, Oro police station, Wabo police station, Wabag police barracks, Angoram and Boikin Highway Patrol bases.
Mobile barracks rehabilitations include Komo, Madang, Lae, Bulolo, Tomaringa, Alotau and Yangoru.
“The RPNGC was happy to take delivery of around K4.5million of a training facility at Gusap, Ramu, last month,” he said.
“The project was built and handed over by New Britain Palm Oil under the Tax Credit Scheme.”
He said the department is working closely with the agencies to fast track some of the projects before 2021.
