THE Lae Football Association will kick off its season this weekend and teams have been warned to pay their registration fees prior to taking part in the competition, says president Roy Kamen.
He told The National that Saturday was set for the season to start as per the requirement of the Papua New Guinea Football Association (PNGFA).
“We anticipate to have our finals in August following the mother body’s calendar,” Kamen said.
“The congress had decided to reduce our registration fee to K700 per club due to the effects of Covid-19.
“We’re trying to be lenient to all clubs.
“Player registration for the seniors and juniors is K20 and K10 respectively.
“Clubs have been advised about the registration fee which they have to settle before the deadline on Thursday.”
Kamen said the draws would be released on Friday, with 10 clubs having already completed their registration.
“PNGFA has given a directive to cut down on the number of teams in each division this year,” he said.
“With PNGFA’s calendar very tight and if we’re having a large number of teams, we can’t complete the competition on time.”
