It was bought and presented to the Lae metropolitan command by Lae MP John Rosso along
with a new 25-seater Coaster bus and another 10-seater Land Cruiser.
Four policemen were believed to have been in the vehicle when it crashed.
The police officers sustained minor injuries.
A police officer at the scene, who did not want to be identified, said the driver of the vehicle lost control of the vehicle and it crashed.
Sector Response Unit commanding officer Inspector David Kamayong, who arrived at the scene after the accident, said he was shocked and couldn’t believe his men had destroyed a new vehicle through carelessness.
Kamayong said members of unit 103 were trying to attend to a fight which was not serious so there was no reason for the driver to be speeding.
