THE People’s National Congress Party-led coalition has the numbers to maintain stability and provide good governance to the nation, says Jimi MP Wake Goi.
Goi, the Vice Minister for Works and Implementation, said parties such as Pangu, United Resource Party and People’s Progress Party, would stay together to see through the Government’s mission and vision.
He was responding to the resignations from the People’s National Congress (PNC) of at least seven MPs in the past week. They include Enga Governor Sir Peter Ipatas, Southern Highlands Governor William Powi, Hela Governor Philip Undialu, Esa’ala MP Davis Steven, Komo-Margarima MP Manasseh Makiba, Manus Governor Charlie Benjamin and Okapa MP Saki Soloma.
Goi, a People’s National Congress party member, said he would remain loyal to party leader and Prime Minister Peter O’Neill “to maintain stability and good governance”.
He said it would have been wiser for the MPs to discuss with O’Neill their grievances first before leaving the party.
“The government of Prime Minister Peter O’Neill is doing a lot in terms of infrastructure such as roads, bridges, airport redevelopment, health, education, and looking at the long-term development of the country,” Goi said.
“Everyone makes mistakes. No one is perfect to (be able to) look at all things at once. If you are not happy with something with the Government, then it would have been better to address it as a team instead of just leaving like that.”
