Laga introduces new ice cream

A NEW vanilla ice cream made from organic vanilla grown in East Sepik has been introduced by Laga Industries.
The ice cream, Niugini Vanilla, was launched in July and joins Laga’s other ice cream products – double chocolate, cheese cake and rum and raisin. The new vanilla ice cream was displayed on Friday at the Sir Ignatius Kilage indoor stadium in Lae during the Lae real estate show and people who tasted it said they enjoyed the flavour and sweet and organic taste.
Laga Industries northern regional marketing coordinator Serah Moana said all their ice cream products were produced in Lae.
“We got our vanilla beans for the ice cream from Wewak (East Sepik),” Moana said.
A local woman, Kessie Serth, who attended the real estate show, said the local vanilla taste was good and thanked Laga Industries for promoting and making use of the local produce.
“I have tasted products made of local coffee, cocoa, coconut and this is my first time to taste a product made from local vanilla,” she said.
“I would encourage companies to look at using our locally grown commodities to create products that we are consuming instead of importing products.
“I’d like all other companies to follow what Laga did and make use of our organic produce.”
