FORMER Moresby North-East MP Labi Amaiu has been committed to stand trial at the National Court following his statements made under Section 96 of the District Court Act.
A previous ruling was made on Jan 20 where Amaiu was committed to the National Court on charges of seven counts of misappropriation and seven counts of conspiracy to defraud.
Amaiu filed an application under Section 96 of the District Court Act to give his statement.
He submitted his statement and Magistrate Cosmas Bidar ruled that he should return to trial.
Amaiu will appear for listing at the National Court on April 22.
It is alleged that on Sept 15, 2017, Amaiu conspired with a number of people to defraud National Housing Commission by transferring 301 land titles at Duran Farm Housing Estate at 8-Mile, Port Moresby, to PNG Resources Corporation Limited.
