Landowner company holds first meeting

THE Koiari landowner company, Hogeri Development Company (HDC) held its first clan vetting, land mobilisation and incorporated land group (ILG) registration workshop on Jan 15.
The workshop was an awareness exercise for the clans in Hogeri area and Hiri, Central, done in close consultation with the Central government, Office of the Registrar of ILGs and civil identity and registry office, NID.
HDC chairman Tyson Boboro who organised the workshop, said the workshop which help inform the landowners on the importance of clan vetting, land mobilisation and ILGs.
The workshop was funded with K4.1 million released by the State to the Koiari people in December.
An amount of K800,000 was given to the HDC for the workshop on clan vetting, land boundaries identification and establishment of ILGs and to carry out awareness programmes in all six Hogeri villages – Ogotana, Boredabu, Kailaki-Edobeva, Ruburu-Doe, Anahadabu and Avitana.
Special guests at the workshop were Central deputy administrator Peter Simbaka, registrar of ILGs Iruna Rogikila, NID operations manager Leslie Simon and Central land adviser Cliff Gabi Boutau, who pledged their support to help the Hogeri people register ILGs.
The workshop was initiated by Central Governor Robert Agarobe to help the parties entitled to royalties concerning land and natural resources to resolve issues relating to funds and established the “Airways accord” which called for the Central government to provide oversight to Koiari landowners through the Koiari LLG on the use of funds.
