Landowners called to sort out differences and register land

LANDS and Physical Planning Minister Justin Tkatchenko has called on customary landowners to register their land as an Incorporated Land Group.
Tkatchenko said the landowners should sort out their differences and register their land for the benefit of their families. “I encourage all traditional landowners, all customary landowners to register their ILGs,” he said.
“Sort out differences between clans and register your land so that the land will be surveyed for the customary land and the title for you to own for the benefit of your families now and into the future.
“We are here to work together as a team to ensure that we finally get it right and put the proper process and policies in place to stop
these problems occurring in future. Whatever we are doing now, the future holds a bright future when it comes to our customary landowners and local landowners. We will not issue any more SABLs.”
He said the department was now looking at registering ILGs to have customary land titles issued to the landowners.
“Once this is done, the landowners will own the land forever. From there you can open your land for investment knowing that the land you have is registered for your own,” he said.
