FRANCIS N’Drasal, 24, sees a vacuum in life after he lost his father, the biggest influence in his life.
After serving the police force for 24 years, Morobe police commander the late Chief Supt Alex N’Drasal died last Wednesday after a short illness.
For Francis and his two sisters, Catherine and Roselyn, the challenges ahead will be tough but they were thankful to their father for setting a path for them to follow.
Francis said his father wanted the family, especially his children, to put God first, school and family.
“From day one, my father had been true to his words and made sure we put God first in everything we did as he was a committed Christian,” he said.
“I can’t believe my father has died.
“Now I feel that I am just blank, there is nothing behind what I am thinking now.
“My father saw me and my siblings through our education.
“Just three weeks ago, he found me a job.”
The late commander was instrumental in lowering law and order issues in Morobe and other parts of the country where he served.
Over the last four years, he put strategies in place to make sure law and order issues in the nine districts of Morobe were addressed.
He was also instrumental in the construction of police infrastructures.
“Whatever advice that he has given me about life will be taken and I will use those as my stepping stone and move forward,” Francis said.
Roselyn described her dad as a hero in her life.
“My father called me his boss because he loved me more than my brother and sister,” Roselyn said.
“As a toddler, I used to sleep beside him and he would feed me.”
