Late Jenelyn’s relatives deny seeking compensation

THE relatives of the late Jenelyn Kennedy have denied asking her partner’s family for compensation.
Family spokesperson Thomas Opa said the family was still in mourning after she died on June 23 from alleged beatings by her partner Bosip Kaiwi who is facing a wilful murder charge.
Opa described as fake a post on social media saying they were seeking K600,000 in compensation.
He said it was another attempt by people wanting to discredit and tarnish the name of the family.
“We the family of late Jenelyn deny (such compensation) claims. It is outrageous,” he said. “The lies and fake social media claims are the work of evil people who will do anything to circumvent the justice system.”
Opa said all they wanted was justice to be served on Jenelyn.
“We maintain our no-compensation no-bail demands,” he said.
Kaiwi was denied bail by the National Court for the second time last week.
Opa thanked the people of Papua New Guinea for their prayers and support.
“Our families nationwide stand firm and we respect the police and judicial system to do their duty to serve this nation and bring justice to late Jenelyn Kennedy,” he said.
