Laumas start Fuzzy Wuzzy 9s campaign with three wins

FUNERAL Home Laumas kicked off their Fuzzy Wuzzy Nines title defence with three straight wins at the Bava Park in Port Moresby yesterday.
Laumas beat Siporo Magpies 22-18 in their opening fixture. But Southern Roosters were the side that raised eyebrows on day one of the two-day rugby league tournament.
Roosters, Rovanama, Miro Koivi and RIL Roadsiders the other unbeaten sides in the 24-team tournament.
Debutants Roosters upset Erima Laumas 8-6 with players like Emmanuel Herea, Kambi Igiman, Brian Gispe, Clansy Kei and Judah Rimbu.
Laumas’ former Hunter Bland Abavu, Francis Aihi, Chris Jerry and John Simon were kept at bay with good defence from the opposition.
Tournament director Manu Lofena said the today draws would be finalised and distributed to the teams before the opening match of day two.
He said the final would be also played today and followed by the presentation of awards.
