Law unfair

THIS relates to the beating of PNG athlete Debbie Kaore that received widespread condemnation, on the newspapers on Monday.
It is an undeniable fact that many women in this country are subjected to domestic and sexual violence.
Domestic violence has been on the rise the past decades and is still mounting.
The reason is not because of the aggressive nature and cultural norms pertaining to man but is due to the coming into effect of laws supporting women rights.
Contrarily, I have seen that this country’s limelight has been focused only on women rights.
Especially married women have been given so many rights.
In a family, man and woman have duties and responsibilities.
And these responsibilities must be separated from rights.
Though they have their rights, they also have responsibilities towards each other and the family as a whole. Failure to perform these duties can have dire consequences.
The point is, as a wife, women should not be blinded by their rights to take heed of their responsibilities.
In view of that, one should not jump to conclusions by hearing one-sided story or just viewing a video or catch a glimpse of a pic.
The law as two sides to the story and so let it alone takes its cause.

  • Businesses for Health Papua New Guinea absolutely condemns the use of physical punishment or violence in all forms. We uphold this view in our homes, training classes and the workplaces where we promoter rights to good health. The man we saw (and the rest of the world saw) in the video can only be described as a violent criminal.
