Lead half back

SP PNG Hunters coach Paul Aiton has recalled Jamie Mavoko into the starting side while dropping Sakias Komati for the Hostplus Cup round 6 match against Redcliff Dolphins on Saturday.
In the other changes, Robert Mathias moves back to the centres replacing Elijah Roltinga while Benjamin Kot, who played his first game of the season in round 5 maintains his spot in the back-row.
Aiton said his side’s ability to defend effectively during crucial periods of games would be key to beating a side like Dolphins who are in second place on the ladder and coming off 30-22 win over the Northern Pride.
“It’s good to have Jamie Mavoko back; he is experienced and he can lead the boys around the park well so that’s the only change we’ve made,” Aiton said.
“So just like what we did in the preseason, we are focusing more on our defence. Of course the Dolphins are coming over here to win and we know that but we are more focused on ourselves then our opposition,” Aiton said.
“Apart from that I think we are doing okay, the tackling technique is improving and we are reducing our penalty counts every week and that’s good.
“I think it’s just about our mindset at the end and we have to improve on our defence.”
Hunters have won two games, lost two and had a bye in the opening five rounds of the season.
The two wins were at home while the losses were in away matches. Aiton said his men were aiming to make the National Football Stadium their fortress in 2024.
“Two wins at home is good and we want to maintain that and make our home ground as fortress. But Dolphins are aiming for a win as well so want to spoil the party for them this week.”
