Leadership in PNG

Letters

LEADERSHIP in Papua New Guinea is assumed as accumulation of material possessions.
I refer to this type of leadership as subject-based and not concept-based.
An alternate phrase would be very traditional.
Scholastically, such style of leadership is referred to as autocratic.
Briefly, it means not utilising the expertise available at one’s disposal for the gain of an institution or an organisation.
Leadership is about supervising and monitoring in ensuring that the desired outcome of an assigned task is achieved.
It is not to worry too much about how the money and or other resources of that nature are spent.
Leadership needs to have appropriate monitoring tools in place to monitor the disbursement of resources and how those resources are used.
It is not to be very materialistic by doing the jobs all by itself, which are contextually preferred for the expertise of sub-ordinates.
Formal organisations have got blueprints that should be achieved collaboratively.
Leadership should provide avenues that lead directly to achieving these organisational blueprints.
