THOSE tasked to run the General Election 2022, both security and electoral officials, failed to study the past history and experience of Enga.
Government facilities worth of millions have been destroyed, there’s a surge in deaths and local communities are in chaos.
The vulnerable are sleeping outdoors, hungry and seeking refuge out in the districts.
There was no election strategy.
Such comes with experience.
It all started from a couple of districts petitioning the police and electoral authorities in
Enga to get rid of alleged corrupt election officials involved in polling.
That ignorance led to locals building different political perspectives and bringing forward more suspicions towards the Electoral Commission and police.
However, in the case above, tensions rose when multiple ballot boxes were hijacked in a raid.
As hijacking of ballot boxes created hatred and animosity among supporters and that led to the destruction in the district.
Enga would not be in the state it is today had officials studied the history and political culture in Enga.
