MY heart aches every time I see people dying, some killed in a brutal act of violence, while many others sustaining minor injuries.
Papua New Guinea has beautiful cultures and traditions.
We happily uphold the cultures of our forefathers, still practicing the lessons and ways passed down from generation to generation.
Our country used to be the most eye-catching place on Earth in terms tourism due to our natural beauty and cultural diversity.
The generation of today have decided to introduce another culture into our society that can bring division and destruction in families, communities, clans, districts, provinces and even the nation.
This is a sick culture being adapted citizens of this beautiful island nation.
I heard stories, saw the news about the greatest chaos in the history of PNG.
I am starting to recall the number of Government services burnt down – schools, healthcare facilities, electricity and water supplies.
Having said that, can you imagine if these elected MPs don’t do anything to repay the lives lost, damages to properties etc?
In addition, these MPs will be flying to and from Port Moresby and overseas for their personal interests.
They will send their kids to private schools to get a quality education and get free healthcare from private hospitals.
All the while, you will be the one travelling long distances to get medical treatment and an education.
While you’re struggling, the MPs you once fought for will see you as another piece of trash.
You rush your mum, sister, aunty or wife to the hospital to give birth and she dies on the road because some animals burnt down the clinic.
To those that participated in the rampage, please sit back and think for a second – are you doing the right thing?
If not, then stop politics and campaigning because risking your life for the benefit of another is not worth it.
Once when you go to your MPs house, he’ll say: “I will give some money you can come next week.”
Next week turns into next month which then turns into a year and one year turns into a full five-year term and before you realise it, it’s the next election.
Please stop becoming fools and getting involved in political fights.
Be a real citizen and advocate for people to use their vote and not violence.
I pray that God can give peace and calmness to the people who are still fighting.
To sum up, let’s not create political issues and let the beauty of Papua New Guinea return.
