Let’s develop our country

Letters

PAPUA New Guinea is blessed with natural resources just as Africa.
However, Papua New Guinea is still ranked as a poor nation despite the abundant natural resources.
What should be done to improve this?
How do we become a developed nation?
I believe people have different ideas about what should be done to improve our living standards.
But I think we should start by changing our mindsets and be self-reliant.
It would be better if the Government send students to study abroad.
Allow them to acquire the knowledge that the country needs.
We have minerals and resources that we can build infrastructure from but we lack the knowledge.
On the other hand, the Government should cut down on borrowing.
Instead, it should concentrate more on investing in other countries to accumulate wealth for the country.
Our country needs honest and visionary leaders.
We need people who can change the course of our nation from the path of corruption and poverty to the path of prosperity.
It is time we should be serious and responsible for our development.
To the good and hardworking people of this country, bear this in mind: “A visionary leader makes a nation prosper, however, a leader without a vision makes a nation perish”.

  • There should be a different law drawn up to prosecute those who holds higher position in public office and government statutory institution. Time and time we talk about transparency and accountability but this does not transpire as we think. There is no pride or patriotism in one person who they offices, all they are thinking about is how can I get rich in this office. So the government must come down hard now before it’s too late.
